"2026: Again, this year The Summer House was my choice. Why?
1) Value - Jen Webler's Summer House Inn has a variety of rooms. I have stayed in about five different rooms, and all were a bargain. All of them had an outdoor porch. There is 24-hour access to a community kitchen (which is very helpful to me as I need to prepare vegan foods). There is ample storage room for perishables & dry goods. There are tons of dishes and pots and pans, as well as tables and chairs. 2) Consistency - over the years, you will still find your favorite blue teapot. You will find a jar of candy in the living room. There will be umbrellas, beach towels and cushions for you to borrow. There are free lanyards in the living room, so you can put your access card in them and be "good to go" for all of the events. The rooms look the same from year-to-year, and are furnished in a charming, old-fashioned way. You will be able to reach Jen readily, and she will respond promptly. You will be able to reconnect with other visitors who return year after year. 3) Safety/central location - the Summer House Inn is located close to the auditorium, which is very helpful when returning from late nite evening performances. It is a quick walk to the plaza, the park and the beach. 4) Individualized assistance - the help I needed from Jen was very different the first year, as compared to the help I needed on return visits. Jen is sensitive to the varying levels of help and advice needed to help you make the most of your Chatauqua experience. 5) Woman owned business - I am happy to support this! You can't go wrong with the Summer House Inn. Just a "head's up" : sign up for your room early. They fill up fast, particularly with repeat guests. See you next year!

Like a Ray of Sunshine…
I stayed at the Summer House Inn for the second year in a row, and one of the things I appreciate most is its wonderfully friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Jen is a terrific host. She, her family, and staff create a warm and welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home. I love the charm and character of this wonderful old house. The location is ideal—central and convenient to both the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy, yet just far enough away to feel peaceful. I stayed in Room 31 this year and loved having my own bathroom and balcony, where I occasionally enjoyed music from the Amphitheater. The communal dining area makes it easy to meet other guests over breakfast or a meal, and I’ve made some lovely connections there—some that have continued well beyond my stay at Chautauqua. There’s a real sense of community that I haven’t experienced in other accommodations, and that’s what really sets the Summer House Inn apart. I look forward to returning next summer!

Loved it!
The room was a lovely surprise. A comfortable bed and bathroom so very close and I got my exercise walking the steps and walking to the Institutions many events. Also, the kitchen was well supplied with everything needed to prepare meals. Thanks for your hospitality.

Always A Pleasant Stay
We stumbled upon this place a few years ago when looking for a place for 1 night while visiting for a Jay Leno show. We have since returned for now our second summer staying for a week (or more) at a time. This place is awesome and Jen is a great host. The housekeepers are also super nice and do a great job. We will continue to come back to The Summer House Inn.

Room 31
cudos on creating such a magical place... the ambience is truly a correct mix of vintage patina and ole chautaqua... your attention to detail and the diddly thangs that make or break a stay at chautauqua (seat pads, umbrellas, coffee filters, daily newspaper, schedules, places to find food ..etc etc etc..) r both noteworthy and help to make your inn a perfect landing pad for first timers like us had expected to cross paths with u but everyone we encountered here this week was helpful, friendly and approachable.... u have postitioned your inn to be a magnet for a nicely eclectic strata of the chautauqua rainbow of personalities and your pricing is most appreciated for this retired elementary school teacher who doesn't possess a retirement fund in the 7 digit range.... given your location and the well stocked, clean and functional group kitchen... u r without doubt... the best value on this side of the chautauqua gates... every inch of your inn was clean, and in good repair... the 2 lithuanian housekeepers were delightful....cant remember when i last had 2 lituanian college grads as house keepers ( a lawyer and a biologist)....as a former environmental scientist of Latvian heritage... that made for some fun encounters.... appreciate the support and guidance in coordinating our first week ever at chautauqua .. great week... in no small part..thanks to u, yer staff and your facility would like to make the summer inn my annual portal to the unique conclave that will be celebrating 151 years running next season

A great week at Chautauqua!
The Summer House owner and her staff were very friendly and helpful. All of the services (refrigerators, coffee makers, toasters etc.) made my stay very enjoyable. The room itself was perfect, too.
