Welcome to The Summer House Inn!

It was perfect
Having a room on the first floor minus the traffic and noise is rather rare. But this is what this room offered. No lugging your bags up the stairs, and a quiet room with a private exit at the back. It had all the storage we needed. Our room was serviced daily. When we needed a bit of maintenance work, Jen, our landlady, showed up in minutes and the problem was fixed. Viola!!! What service! Spacious bathroom fully supplied and equipped. Of course, the Summer House Inn has it's charm. We stay here every summer. Choice location, charming parlor, and wonderful company of guests. I love the communal dining room where we hang out over meals and exchange notes with the guests, sometimes making friends and staying connected. Often we run into the same guests year after year. How cool is that!

Great Classic Chautauqua Hotel
The Summer House is an old-style Chautauqua hotel with some modern conveniences. There's a communal kitchen in the basement which saved us a lot of money on food as well as providing a place for informal conversation with other guests. The location is excellent, halfway between the amphitheatre and the Hall of Philosophy. There's no A/C but there are fans and an electric heater. The owner is friendly and helpful. Our room, room 12, had a separate entrance to the back yard, right next to the bike rack, which was very handy, and also provided great ventilation. We also had use of the front porch and a lobby with TV, books, comfy chairs etc. Not a luxury hotel, but comfortable, reasonably priced, and with a location that can't be beat. Staying on the grounds is great -- we didn't use the car all week!
