Description

Welcome to the St. Elmo! This is the premier location at Chautauqua Institution, directly on the town square, Bestor Plaza, in an elevator, air-conditioned building that is a new all-steel fireproof construction (1988) carefully designed and decorated to fit into Victorian Chautauqua. The lower level offers shops, a spa, and deli in season. Everything is at your fingertips.

Location: #315 is a quiet  unit on the third floor on Ames Avenue.  Just cross the Plaza is the Post Office, Chautauqua Bookstore, Library, Afterwords Cafe. Also Brickwalk Cafe and Coffee Kiosk in season.  A few more steps and you will enjoy all that the Amphitheater and Hall of Philosophy have to offer.

Parking:  During the Summer Assembly guests at the St. Elmo purchase parking in the institution lots. On street parking is allowed post-season.

The Studio-efficiency Apartment:

Galley kitchen:  medium-size refrigerator, electric range, dishwasher, disposer,  cabinets

Living/ Dining/Sleeping: fold-away table with 2 chairs, sleeper sofa, occasional chair, end tables, desk and chair, closet with chest of drawers. Streaming TV, DVD, and Stereo, Hotel-quality queen size mattress and box spring, in a wall-bed ("Murphy bed") hydraulically balanced for easy operation.

Bath: Tub-Shower combination, sink, toilet.

Private Porch: Table, chairs and flower boxes.

Decoration and Furnishings: Unit #315 is nicely and comfortably furnished in a pleasant mixture of contemporary and refurbished '40's deco with all-wool carpeting.

Cleaning: The apartment is carefully cleaned for each tenant by personally chosen housekeepers who have been with us for many years.These pros know what clean is.

Laundry: A washer and dryer are located on the same floor just outside the front door of the apartment.

Supplies: #315 is fully equipped with bedding, linens, towels, dishes, flatware, and cooking utensils. Guests don’t need to bring anything; just unpack and enjoy your Chautauqua vacation.

No animals. No smoking. Condominium regulations do not allow our guests to bring animals.  The St. Elmo is a non-smoking building.
